"Looking Through the I" is a thought provoking book that examines the ideas of self and I via many disparate perspectives. It is a wide reaching book while remaining easily accessible to anyone with a sincere interest in exploring one's self. It's an entertaining, clever piece analysis. I highly recommend it to anyone.
If you are looking for definitive answers to questions of the self and consciousness, you won't find them here. What you will find, however, are brief introductions to these issues through the form of thought experiments, and intuition pumps. I think that these are valuable tools to have they enable the reader to understand different modes of attacking the problem. Best of all, the individual parts aren't too difficult at all and quite fun to read.
